With highways and future railway extensions, accessibility will only improve, making Konza one of Kenya’s smartest investment locations. The journey from and to Nairobi by road typically takes around 1 to 1.5 hours, depending on traffic. So yes, you can live and own land in Konza, build a residence and commute to Nairobi daily. Given Konza’s rapid development, is on the rise, making it an attractive prospect for investors.

 

·        Konza to Mombasa: Mombasa, Kenya's major port city on the coast of the Indian Ocean, is significantly further away from Konza, at a distance of approximately 480-500 kilometres (300-310 miles). The primary route connecting them is the Mombasa-Nairobi Highway, which passes near Konza. Travel time by road is considerable, typically ranging from 6 to 8 hours. There are plans to extend the Standard Gauge Railway (SGR). This will significantly reduce travel time in the future. This is fodder for speculators who can buy land cheap now and wait till it appreciates when the SGR is done.

 

·        Konza to Kisumu: Kisumu, Kenya's third-largest city, is located in the western part of the country on the shores of Lake Victoria. It is the furthest major city from Konza, with a distance of roughly 400-420 kilometres (250-260 miles). Travel by road usually takes around 6 to 7 hours. While there isn't a direct, major highway connecting them, the national road network facilitates travel between the two. To travel from Kisumu by road involves taking the A104 towards Nairobi and then connecting onto the A109 south towards Mombasa until you reach Konza. This is a long journey best undertaken by private vehicle or long-distance bus services. Flights from Kisumu to Nairobi, followed by road transport to Konza, are also an option.

You can take public transport (buses and matatus heading towards Mombasa) and alight at the Konza junction or directly at the Konza City entrance. Private vehicles can easily access the site via this highway. You can also use Uber, Bolt, Little Cab or any of the myriad online hailing cabs.

 

·        Availability of Large Tracts of Land: The chosen area offered a large expanse of undeveloped land, allowing for master-planned development without the constraints of existing urban sprawl. The government acquired 5,000 acres specifically for this project from the residents of Machakos, Makueni and Kajiano. Some of these landowners in the outskirts of Konza are still selling so speculators have many options when it comes to owning a piece of Konza.
